FUNDNG ECONOMIC GROWTH IN BRANT

$451, 954 To Help Maidstone Bakeries of Brantford Expand Operations

NEWS

February 9, 2010

Brantford- Today in Brantford, MPP Dave Levac, Brant, announced that Maidstone Bakeries Incorporated of Brantford will receive $451, 954 in Rural Economic Development Initiatives (REDI) funding.

REDI is an initiative that provides funding to projects that foster economic development in Ontario including job creation and retention. Projects funded through REDI support the governments’ priority of strong rural communities.

”This grant confirms Maidstone Bakeries commitment to expand operations in Brantford, bringing with it new jobs and protecting existing ones, thus confirming that Brantford is an ideal place to expanded existing operations or for new business to set up shop in a business friendly environment.” – MPP Dave Levac, Brant.

Project Summary:

The proposed project will allow for production expansion at Maidstone Bakeries through the installation of a permanent on-site wastewater treatment system, commercialization of a new product line, and improved materials handling/production efficiencies through the

implementation of specific operations management software.

The company’s growth is constrained by its current wastewater system which prevents any significant increases in production in order to comply with current municipal discharge requirements. This has prevented the company from expanding production and pursuing the commercialization of new product lines.
