PUTTING LIBRARIES ON THE LEADING EDGE
McGuinty Government Invests In Innovative Venture At Brantford Public Library
The Brantford Public Library is moving forward with a project in conjunction with The Expositor newspaper on a local history gateway through funds provided by the Ontario government. The project will digitize the library’s clipping files of The Expositor newspaper, and provide one electronic interface that will enable library users to perform a global search of those records and of other digitized materials in the library’s collections.
“The Brantford Public Library is a vital part of our community. This provincial grant will ensure the library continues to strengthen our culture and be a centre of learning for all generations.”-Dave Levac, MPP, Brant
The library is receiving $6,534 from the Ontario Ministry of Culture’s Library Strategic Development Fund (LSDF) to complete the project. Brantford Public Library is one of 10 locations across Ontario to receive support for strategic initiatives that enhance Ontario’s public libraries and First Nations public libraries. Projects funded under the program this year focus on:
new services, programs and research,
increasing accessibility and awareness of library services, and
the creation of digital collections and services.
